A STONE WALL IN THE BATHROOM

Our stone wall has nothing to fear from moisture: the mineral resin surface is water-resistant. The one place we advise against is the inside of a shower enclosure, not because of how the material holds up but because of upkeep: on a face this rugged, limescale and soap lodge in the texture and cleaning becomes tedious. It is a choice to make with your eyes open, not a ban. Everywhere else, the Óros panel is glued straight onto the existing wall, old tiling included: 1.38 m² covered per panel, under 10 kg per square metre, up to 85 mm of depth.

WHERE TO PUT A STONE WALL IN A BATHROOM

Three spots come up again and again. The feature wall behind the bath, which transforms the room in one go. The stretch of wall behind the vanity unit, where splashes cause no durability problem at all. And a dado or a half-wall, which visually separates the dry zone from the rest of the room without partitioning it. Inside the shower enclosure itself it is technically possible, but we do not advise it, for the single reason of cleaning.

The most common case is renovation over existing tiles. Breaking out bathroom tiles means dust, rubble, substrate repairs and often several days without a working bathroom. Óros goes straight over the top: the tiling stays put, it just needs to be dust-free, degreased and well bonded. That is what makes this solution particularly suited to 1980s and 1990s bathrooms, whose tiling is sound but dated.

WHY A STONE-EFFECT PANEL IN A BATHROOM

Weight is the decisive argument in a bathroom. Natural stone cladding weighs several tens of kilos per square metre and means checking that the substrate can take it, particularly on a dry-lined wall or moisture-resistant plasterboard. Óros stays under 10 kg per square metre: a panel can be handled by one person and needs no structural reinforcement.

Each panel is hand-painted in our workshop, which gives it slight variations in tone and material, as in a real rock face. In a bathroom, where surfaces are repetitive and calibrated by nature, floor tiles, wall tiles, mirror, that irregularity is exactly what breaks the monotony. The panels interlock through a patented geometry that makes the join invisible, horizontally as well as vertically.

INSTALLING YOUR ÓROS PANEL: WHAT TO KNOW

Installation is within reach of a DIYer with a jigsaw and a caulking gun. The panel is glued straight onto the existing wall, with no stripping out and no building work, on plasterboard, wood, tile, concrete and painted surfaces. The substrate simply needs to be dust-free, dry and sound. KÓLLA adhesive has enough initial grab to hold the panel as soon as you press it on by hand: no props, nothing to hold in place while it cures.

For upkeep, a vacuum with a brush attachment or a slightly damp sponge is enough; avoid dry cloths and scouring pads, which catch in the texture.
